Violet came to Seoul expecting a fresh start. Instead, she found a mold-infested one-room apartment, twelve brutally honest kindergarten students, and a life far more complicated than the one she’d imagined back home. Naive but far from foolish, Violet is still learning that being independent doesn’t always mean knowing what you’re doing—and that trusting the wrong person can sometimes feel a lot like falling in love.
Minjae

Minjae is an office worker with a demanding job, heavy glasses, and an unexpectedly good command of English. He isn’t the kind of man Violet would have expected to notice across a crowded bar, but he quickly becomes difficult to ignore. Attentive, charming, and always ready to tell Violet how things work in Korea, Minjae seems to know exactly what to say—and, sometimes, exactly what Violet wants to hear.
Subin
Age: 33

Subin is Violet’s Korean co-teacher: impeccably dressed, highly organized, and never short of an opinion. She knows how the classroom should be run, how Violet should speak to the students, and apparently even what Violet should eat. But beneath her polished appearance and occasionally cutting honesty, Subin may understand more about Violet’s situation than Violet realizes.

Director Lee is Violet’s employer and the man responsible for bringing her to Korea. Busy, practical, and perpetually focused on keeping the school running, he isn’t particularly concerned with the finer details of Violet’s adjustment to life in Seoul.
